About Me
I’ve been a Woodworker for 25 years, a music lover for longer, and have been building guitars since 2002. I started Prairiewood Guitars when I felt I had reached a point that I could offer quality instruments to players on a consistent basis, and at a reasonable price.
I build my guitars either singly or in small batches, and make everything myself except for the hardware and electronics. I make a point of using the best woods I can find such as Honduran Mahogany and Eastern Maple, as I believe they contribute to both the tone and stability of an instrument.
Prairiewood guitars are finished either in Nitrocellulose lacquer or rubbed-on shellac (French polish). Both are chosen for their beauty and restorability. I only use hardware that I trust, and pickups that rival the best vintage examples in tone.
I look forward to each day that I spend working at Prairiewood Guitars, and would be honored to build the instrument of your choice.
